Other Relevant Experience:

In my spare time, I enjoy learning and inventing new techniques to solve problems, and coming up with creative ideas for software that helps students learn concepts. I have:
  • Spent one summer, answering questions on Yahoo Answers. Often, by the time I put together a well crafted answer with images to help illustrate a concept, another answer would have already been selected as the correct answer. Many times it was wrong or not well written, so I started working on questions that were at least a half hour old with nobody attempting to answer them. I found the older questions were often more challenging, therefore there was not as many people answering them. It was enjoyable to take the time needed to write a carefully crafted answer with all of the steps necessary to work through the problem.
  • Written educational software in Flash and PHP: (In the process of updating my portfolio now that the Flash player is no longer available.)
  • Made SCORM compliant interactive and engaging learning objects after spending an entire summer researching how to use SCORM.
  • Learned to use HTML5, CSS3, SVG, JavaScript, and PHP to replace Flash projects: http://mathematical.website
